I've had my steam deck for a few months now, and I've wanted to swap the SSD for a bit, I've heard horror stories of the chip exploding after SSD swaps. I got a used 256GB model, and I've been wondering if there's a way to check if mine has this fault or not, thanks in advance.

Hi,
Both the manufacturer and customers warn against replacing the internal SSD because the power draw being different can, and apparently has, mess(ed) with other components. I would recommend a MicroSD card instead. If you're set on the rabbit hole, start with this post by u/rawbringer - it seems like you might want to replace the IC with the SSD.

Yesterday I made a post about my Steam Deck that couldn't charge anymore.
After asking in r/AskElectronics I found out that my charging chip was blown.
Someone helped me find the right chip and ordered it right away.
I received the IC today and successfully replaced it!
