Laptop won't accept ifixit battery replacement.

I just bought a replacement kit for my XPS that was struggling because of poor battery life. I put the new battery in and I am now getting a warning that the laptop won't charge the new battery because it is a third-party battery. I know this is a known issue for some Dell computers. I have tried reinstalling the driver as was suggested on the site here and unplugging and replugging the battery back in without any success. Unfortunately, the battery will not charge and I continue to get the single white/single orange error flash pattern in addition to a BIOS error every time I start up the laptop. Just wondering if anybody has any other fixes beyond driver reinstallation for this specific laptop.

@batteryfail for now just update your BIOS. Let's see what that results in.

@batteryfail you've checked the link and verified that your current BIOS is the 2.21.0, 2.21.0

What happens if you install your old battery? Does that charge properly?

Yes the BIOS is up to date with that version. I switched to the old battery and everything works fine.

Among others, I read this reddit post about this issue - sounds like it's a relatively common issue with Dell laptops. As for solutions, either updating the BIOS or getting a new/different charger might help.

Good luck!

I'm using the original Dell charger, which has always worked fine but is not working here. I've also tried bypassing that by using a USB-C charger in the USB C port without any success. I didn't see a BIOS update from Dell that was recent when I looked previously, but I'm not sure if maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. It prompted me to install SupportAssist, which I did. It installed some updates, but none of them seemed to the the BIOS.
