Troubleshooting Motherboards (pop when power on, water damage)

Hello,

I have numerous 2DS motherboards with various issues and I'm not sure how to troubleshoot them or fix them.

Two of the boards I have do not charge or power on. (They have corrosion and rust from water damage)

One of the boards I have charges but does not power on. (Also has corrosion from water damage)

One of them has no visible water damage but fails POST with confirmed functional LCD screen / backlight, rear camera, and battery (powers on then pops)

One of them functions but the volume slider is broken.

Since water damage and cleaning off rust is a common theme, I also have 2 LCD screens that are functional but have rust caked on them. I would like to clean them without damaging them if possible.

Water damage is a BIG problem. Even if it was distilled water, if it was powered on while wet, lots of thing can be fried making it an impossible economical fix. If it is salt water, coke, or other water with salt or sugar, it must be completely washed with fresh water and fully heat dried. That stuff will eat thru wires.

A POST fail should give you some clue as to where the problem is with beeps or flashes. If not, that is a hunt and peck fix. BUT, I don't know what you mean by "POPS".

The volume slider is is obvious.

RUST is oxidized iron. What you are likely seeing is dried contamination, unless it is on a structural steel item. If it is structural, there isn't a need to remove it. If it is contamination, the process ov removing it must also neutralize the source. If you can scrap it off, then wash it with clean water and fully dry it b4 powering. You might also put some vinegar on it prior to washing. That will neutralize any alkaline substance - expecially good for battery corrosion.

There's a pop sound before the console shuts down when it fails a POST. Since all of the parts I used to test that board are good (they work on a different board) I'm assuming there's another component checked by the POST that I'm unaware of.

Thanks for the insight on the other issues. I will do some additional research now that I have something better to go off of. I'm not sure if I can attach images or I would show you exactly what everything looks like.
