Loose Hinge or Normal?

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my inquiry. I just purchased a refurbished MacBook Pro 2019 16inch from eBay and immediately noticed the screen is a bit too wobbly? I'm wondering if this is normal for this model type or if the hinges need to be tightened? The screen wobbles quite a bit when I type on it, not enough to annoy me but to know it's going to become a problem.

I paid a decent amount of money for this unit and it's covered under ebay 1 year warranty but I have to wait 6 months before I can send the unit in for a repair. I'm wondering if I should just return it and ask the seller for a unit with a tighter screen/display? I can see this becoming an issue and damaging my screen sooner than later? I previously owned a 2015 MacBook pro 15 inch and the hinges/screen were just perfect. Never had an issue opening/closing or having the screen wobble on me.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you 🙏🏼

Update* after playing around with the screen a bit more I think the hinges are actually screwed on tightly/ maybe even perfectly? but the screen still wobbles? I found this out by opening and closing the lid a couple times and feeling the friction of the lid as I pulled it up and down. If the hinges were loose the screen would probably be a lot easier to pull up and down (with less tightness and friction) but thats not the case. I think maybe its just a common issue thats not actually an issue?

Mmm… This is a bit tricky. You could just have some loose screws with the hinges or the press fit pin is no longer secure within the frame casting it was press-fitted into, if that’s the case it might be repairable or will need a new display assembly (used). Follow this guide if your careful jump to Step 29 2019年16寸MacBook Pro 屏幕更换 to see if the screws are loose. Let us know if they aren’t.

I definitely don't feel comfortable enough to take the unit apart, it's out of my skills sets which is why I reached out to the community here to see if this was normal. Intuitively I sense the screews might be a bit loose. Not sure what to do...

What are some other signs I should look out for to tell if it's in bad shape?

Is there a risk to having a loose display? Is it better for it to be tighter?

@tashi108 - I would still pop the bottom cover and check the screws they are easy to see and get to. Just don’t touch logic board.

Having a loose display over time will get worse if the press fit pins are loose. What I see in your video is not normal.

Do you know someone who can help you or can visit a repair shop?

@danj Thanks for that info. I think there's two parts to it and one of them is loose and the other tight. Im not sure how to explain this since I dont really know the terms or anything.

I think I'll just send it back and have them fix it since it's covered under warranty. The problem is if they sent it to me in the first place marked as eBay refurbished" then clearly they didn't think it was a problem in the first place. I could pop the sucker open and fix it myself sure but I just don't want to risk it unless there was no other option. Thanks again

@tashi108 - That is the worse case as one loose hinge stresses the other! Over time you could end up killing the display, as the glass LCD panel doesn't like stress.

@danj Do you or have you ever owned this model of macbook pro? The more and more I'm using it the more I'm starting to realize theres nothing actually wrong with it but its just the way the screen is since its so thin. The hinge/bezels are locked in place but the rest of the screen mainly the top are wobbly the same way any piece of thin metal would wobble if you would pull on it.
