How do I install a replacement battery door on my GE x500 camera

I bought a used GE x500 camera, the battery door was missing, i order. a new battery door but now I can't figure how to get it to snap into place. I don't want to break the pins off which appear to be too long to fit the space provided. any help appreciated

Thank you so much! your answer helped in that I knew I didn't have to take something apart! But I did end up shaving a tad of the pin off to get it in. Its fixed now and works fine Thanks
