Paper jam message and scanning issues.

Get paper jam message when trying to print. I cannot se any paper jammed in the machine. I have to feed paper directly into the back of the machine to get it to print which is inconvenient. I am suspicious that HP have caused this hoping that I will buy another printer. Also will not scan slides or negatives. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thankyou.
