Automatic door opener gets stuck
Hello,
I would like to ask for an advice. We have an IKEA FINPUTSAD dishwasher, which was confirmed by IKEA customer care to be a Whirlpool dishwasher. Comparing to a Whirlpool website, it looks similar to WSIO 3T125 6PE X.)
What causes trouble is the automatic door opening after finishing the washing cycle. They call it NaturalDry. At the top of the door is a mechanism that uses a motor and plastic gears to push out a plastic stick that mechanically opens the dishwasher and then it rolls back to the dishwasher body. However, the plastic stick didn't come back (although the dishwasher finished the cycle successfully, which means the electronics has no idea about the plastic stick position - it probably just senses a current going through the motor and stops when there is a higher current than threshold).
The Whirlpool customer care told me to do reset (press start button for 10 seconds) - this does nothing, no beep, no reset of any setting (both water hardness and rinse aid setting are the same and not default). And to unplug the device for one or two hours and plug it back - again, no effect, just wasted a few hours. Tried both procedures like three times.
When I told them it had no effect, they asked me to force push the plastic stick using the door. They told me it won't break and if it did, they cover it under warranty. I tried to push hard, but it had no effect. (I suspected this will have no effect since there must be at least 1:1000 gear ratio with many plastic gears.) Then I pulled the whole dishwasher out and unplugged the opening mechanism. I couldn't fully dismantle it, but i was able to lift a cover on one side, lift the last gear and without any force pushing the plastic stick to the basic position. Reassembled the unit.
The dishwasher completed 3 washing cycles without any trouble (the stick opened and closed OK), but on 4th it got stuck again, halfway back to the dishwasher.
Do you know if there is some service mode that would be able to test the actuator out and in and help me close this? Otherwise I can't close the door and start a new washing cycle.
