Why is my laptop shutting down automatically when playing games

When I play games or do work in my laptop for long period of time it just shuts down without prior notice and when I switch on I loss all of my worked data as I was not able to save it
When it shuts off next try to feel around the botton of the laptop
How long have you had it?
Have you ever replaced the thermal paste on it?
Are the fans on the laptop really loud when it shuts off?
It sounds like an overheating issue
