Hi @abrahamnva73236

Check if the fuse in the microwave oven has blown. (supplier example only to show fuse)

Hopefully it did due to the increase in current caused by placing metal in the oven and not that some other component failed before it blew.

The fuse location is seen in the Interior parts diagram, part ID # 50FZZA on p.32 of the LCRT2010ST Service manual.

If it has blown as it is a time delay type fuse, do not replace it with a same dimensioned, standard fast acting fuse having the same voltage/current ratings, as it will blow immediately that the power is connected to the oven. Search online for 3B74133Q to find suppliers that suit you best.

If the fuse is OK then further testing will be required to find out what the problem is.

Be safety aware when working in microwave ovens. The HV capacitor in the oven can store >5000V DC for months even if the power to the oven has been disconnected for this length of time. This amount of voltage can seriously injure you. The HV capacitor needs to be correctly discharged, as soon as it can be accessed after the oven's cover has been removed and before commencing any other work in the oven

Sometimes you can get away with putting metal in your microwave... But. Your son didn't. So now there are several possibilities damage to the Magnetron and or High voltage transformer and or electronic controls. The Magnetron and transformer are pricey items so repair cost might exceed the replacement cost. If you click on the LG (model number) in the heading at top of page you can scroll down to a service manual you can use in your repair efforts. Good Luck!
