I have a Kenmore 80 series top load washer that will start the wash cycle but not advance to the next stage. If I physically turn the dial to the next stage it will start the next stage and then I have to turn the dial again to complete the wash. The model number is 110.29852991. I’m pretty handy. Is this something I can fix? 😊

Seems as though there may be a problem with the operation of the cycle timer in the machine.
Unfortunately I cannot find the tech sheet (part #LIT4314044) for the model but perhaps this manual which describes the testing of Whirlpool direct drive washers may be of some help.
On p.34 it describes how to test the timer contacts and on p.37 - p.38 there's a wiring diagram/cycle timer chart which may help to find out why the timer is not advancing.
If the timer is the problem, do not attempt to open it to find out what's wrong, as you will have lifting cams and contacts going everywhere. Also if any internal component part of the timer is broken then the timer will have to be replaced. It is a complete assembly and there are no individual internal component parts available for it.
If it is determined that the timer is the problem, here's a link to the parts list that is useful, as it shows that the manufacturer's part number for the timer is WP3952990.
Search online for the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.
If it is another part that is faulty, then locate the wanted part in the parts list to find the part number for it etc.
