Bluetooth connects, then disconnects with no sound, wired sound ok

Followed all advice to connect via Bluetooth, the white LED comes on for a few seconds then goes out. No sound whatsoever. The paired device shows attempt to pair, but connection yields no sound. Speakers ok as I can listen via a wired connection. Noise-cancelling, voice directions, etc non-existent. Fixable?
