How do I replace the ribbon cable and battery on my iPod?

Hello! Thanks for trying to help. I have a water damaged iPod touch. The ribbon cable for volume and power button was torn when removing the motherboard. I removed the glue ontop of the solder points on the board. How do I go and replace the ribbon itself? I have already ordered one, and how do I replace the battery?

IF it still doesnt turn off after new battery, it is dead correct?

UPDATE: BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED, IPOD NOW IS STUCK IN RECOVERY AND WHEN LEFT PLUGGED IN WILL CONNECT TO ITUNES THEN DISCONNECT, AND CONNECT AGAIN! whats wrong.
