Limitations of Mac OS Catalina

The MBP 13" unibody (mid-2012) is a fantastic machine. I have mine configured with 16 GB RAM, 4 TB internal primary SSD and 2 TB internal secondary HD. The OS on this machine cannot be upgraded past Catalina. Most, (soon to be all) browsers are not supported unless I upgrade to Mac OS Sonoma. Is there any MBP capable of running Sonoma that will allow user modification of RAM and internal storage so that my hardware can be match?

You do know there are OS shim services which allow you to run newer macOS's on your system, like OpenCore or DOSdude

Sorry, all of Apples laptops are soldered in Flash chips. To add to that, many Windoze systems are following Apple😫

From what you are listing of your systems config you've already maxed it out! 16GB and two drives! You might be able to get a bit more storage swapping out the 2TB for a 4TB but do you really need that much storage internally? I do get the idea less to carry or forget. Even still your workflow may have special needs. Buying a fully maxed out M series system with 8TB of storage is quite expensive! The good thing is you can get upto 36GB of RAM (14" MBP) in some systems. But it is all at a heavy cost (Apple Tax).

You may need to move some of your stuff to an external drive to save some pennies!

My work has required that I have access to a large volume of data and photos (about 150,000) in remote locations where there may be poor Cloud access, so I have always taken it with me, and yes I do not want to have external drives that could get lost. I will look into OpenCore LP. Thanks!
