What form factor is the SSD in this laptop?
I am looking to upgrade the ssd in this laptop and I would like to know what size M.2 drive it has. Is it a 2230 or a 2280 for example?

The form factor is M2.2280.
Here's the hardware maintenance manual for the model.
Go to p.45 to view the procedure to remove/replace the M.2 SSD.
If you wanted to and if you haven't already done so you could also replace the HDD with a 2.5" 7mm sata SSD (up to 4TB). Ensure that you get one that comes with a 9.5mm spacer that is placed beneath the drive so that it aligns correctly with the sata connector on the board
