Why does the phone ring when I cough?

If I’m not using the phone, and a loud noise occurs in the room. A sneeze, cough or other loud noise. The phone starts ringing until I pick up the handset and hang it up. Why?

What can you hear when you listen on the phone when you pick it up after it begins to ring due to noise occurring in the room?

Please confirm the model number of the phone?
