Why does my new Oster blade leak black fluid?

My old Oster blade assembly was leaking, so I bought a new one. The new one not only leaks, it is leaking a black fluid that has nothing to do with the blender contents. It appears to be some sort of internal lubricant. Why is it leaking, and how do I stop it?
