Overheating Despite Battery Disconnection

Currently working on a display replacement for my iPhone XS Max and I’m having trouble with my display registering touch. I powered on the device with all the cable connections presumably secured, but it didn’t register any touch. I was using a replacement display from iFixit that DEFINITELY was working when I was troubleshooting earlier in the process.

I disconnected the battery without turning off the phone because it wouldn’t respond to any button presses or touch (obviously). Now my phone is not displaying anything, not responding to touch, and is overheating despite the battery being disconnected.

I have placed the phone onto a lunch box ice pack, but I want to figure out what I can do to remedy this. Taking it off the block will immediately begin to reheat the device. I’m genuinely scared.

Disconnecting the battery while the phone is on will not cause any problems. I am not sure what you mean by “Overheating despite Battery Disconnection”

@imicrosoldering - What I want to convey is that the logic board was heating up despite the battery being disconnected from the logic board. After more troubleshooting, I disconnected the cable which connects the logic board to the Lighting port assembly, which resolved the uncontrolled heating.

Under further inspection, the people who worked on my phone previously have damaged my charging coil while replacing my battery. Potentially unrelated, but a detail I want to at least put out there.

@darksagittal if there is no power connected to the phone then logically it cant heat up
