So the microphone board flew off when the device fell onto the floor. Everything else was in tack before hand. The ribbon cable won't stay in when I try to reinsert it into the port. It stopped responding to my voice after it was dropped and I assume that's because of the ribbon cable being detached.

So this connector has another bit that I'm willing to bet you're missing. There should be a darker brown part as well, which is what locks the cable into the connector. When it flew apart, this bit may have launched into the unknown. I would hunt around and see if you can find this piece. You should be able to reattach it.
