The battery got replaced and FOR SOME DUMB reason the keyboard and track pad won't work, the trackpad cable is all the way in and I get backlight from the keyboard.
@danj any ideas, slightly urgent as this is my dad's laptop.

This series often has problems with the trackpad cable. Between being squeezed between the battery and bottom cover which can have some grit on it which is pressed into the ribbon cable damaging it, a battery can also stretch it as it swells up.
I would make sure the battery and bottom cover is clean and replace the trackpad cable often that’s all that’s needed when both don’t work. MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Early 2015) Trackpad Cable there is a bit of a trick as you don’t want to over bend the cable as a sharp crease can damage the thin foil wires and you want to make sure there is slack on both sides of the battery equally.

@danj - D: Okay...... I hope it's not that the trackpad is dead. but why would the keyboard not be working?
@beanman56 - Both connect to an internal USB hub so if one is shorted out it can mess up the other.

@beanman56 - I often get people question why the trackpad cable would matter. At least the combo cable setup avoids the question.
