Phone overheating after replacing battery

So recently I ordered a battery from ifixit for my phone, as its battery health was down to 75%. After replacing and calibrating the new battery, I noticed the phone would get super hot when charging. It would get so hot that the phone automatically dims the brightness to cool itself. This wasn't something that occurred before with the OEM battery from Apple. Could it be that I received a faulty battery, or am I missing some part of the equation here?

Try putting the old battery back in and see if it still overheats.

Experiencing excessive heat when charging your iPhone 11 after replacing the battery can be concerning. While it's possible that you received a faulty battery, there are also other factors to consider that might be contributing to the issue:

Battery Quality: It's important to ensure that you purchased a high-quality, reputable battery for your iPhone 11. If the replacement battery is of inferior quality or not designed specifically for the iPhone 11, it can lead to overheating issues.

Installation: Ensure that the battery replacement was done correctly, and all connectors and screws are properly secured. If there is any misalignment or loose connections, it can lead to heat generation during charging.

Calibration: While you mentioned calibrating the new battery, sometimes the battery calibration process may not work correctly if the replacement battery is not detected properly by the phone's software. This can lead to erratic behavior, including overheating. You may want to try recalibrating the battery by completely draining it and then charging it to 100% a few times.

Faulty Battery: If you suspect that the new battery is faulty, it's a good idea to contact the seller (in this case, iFixit) and inquire about the issue. They may be able to provide guidance or offer a replacement if necessary.

Incompatible or Defective Charger: Ensure that you are using a compatible and high-quality charger and cable. In some cases, a faulty charger or cable can cause overheating during charging.

Software Issues: Sometimes, software glitches or issues can cause the phone to heat up during charging. Ensure that your iPhone's operating system is up to date and consider performing a factory reset if the problem persists after ruling out hardware issues.

Background Apps: Background apps and processes can also contribute to the phone heating up during charging. Close unnecessary apps and ensure that no processes are consuming excessive resources.

Temperature: Charging your iPhone in extremely hot environments can lead to overheating. Make sure the ambient temperature is within the recommended range for charging (usually between 0°C and 35°C or 32°F and 95°F).

If you've ruled out other potential causes and suspect that the replacement battery may be the issue, it's a good idea to contact iFixit's customer support for assistance or inquire about a replacement battery. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or warranty support if needed. Additionally, if you're uncomfortable with the DIY replacement process, consider having the battery replaced by a professional technician to ensure it's done correctly and safely.
