Will WD_Black SN850X SSD with heatsink fit into Mac Mini (late 2014)?

Hi all,
My Mac Mini stopped booting and now has a folder with question mark symbol on startup. Disk utility shows "APFS uninitiated", and reinstalling the OS doesn't work because the boot disk is not even showing up to choose it.

I also don't have a recent backup. So eventually, I've decided to just change the SSD and HDD and avoid the risk of formatting.

My question is, will the WD_Black SN850X SSD 1TB with heatsink fit into the Mac? I can't seem to find any info about whether the heatsink will make the SSD too large. And that too with the NVMe adapter if I'll need it.

I'd appreciate any and all info about this topic,

Thank you.

The SSD with heatsink might give you some issues due to the heatsink interfering with the clearance of the Antenna plate, but your core issue isn't the physical size of the SSD. Apple uses its own proprietary SSD which are keyed differently than other M.2 drives. You could probably get away with using the SSD without a heatsink and a Converter Card Upgrade, or if you don't want to bother with the upgrade iFixit does sell the OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD, which should give you a pretty decent upgrade over the stock SSD.

For Fusion Drive HDD replacement should I get this 1 TB 5400 RPM 2.5" Hard Drive

Or Crucial MX500 1 TB SSD

@xxrainkatxx Upgrade to the SSD. They're a bit more reliable than the standard HHD, and tend to fail a lot less often.
