I cracked the outside display screen.. can I repair my self?

Absolutely, but it takes a lot of careful actions. You will need an original set of die cut adhesives, some thin double stick tape to cut to size, a working undamaged replacement screen, some disassembly tools, a static free work surface.
There are videos on replacing the outer display.
