Potential hurdles replacing the motherboard

Hi All! Planning on doing a motherboard swap to fix a charging port issue a friends phone has been having recently, are there any hidden connectors or potential pitfalls I should look out for? At the moment it only charges wirelessly, and in Samsung's infinite wisdom, they've soldered it to the board directly. Its more economical to get an entire new board than for someone to resolder it surprisingly. Thank you all in advance!

Hi @ezzgen

Maybe check if you can find the problem on the motherboard before replacing it with another.

Here's the service manual for the phone.

Go to p.84 Sect. 8-4-6-1. to view the Cable Charging Part (Normal/Fast) troubleshooting flowchart.

Use Ctrl +f to find the components mentioned in the flowchart in the board layout images on p.76-p.77 (you will have to zoom in to 400%+ to find and see them :-).

The parts list is on p.29 -p.42 so if you find a faulty part the part's ID and part number can be found there. Search online using the part number only to find suppliers.

Unfortunately its the port itself, it works if i hold it at a certain angle but not at any other, and there's nobody local who does microsoldering for <£100, a board from a local seller is only about £30, could always be worse though!

@ezzgen

Shame about not finding anyone who could replace the port cheaper, given the price of the part #3722-004150 but then again a good tech is worth the money in my opinion, but I'm biased

Cheers
