Does it boot back into diagnostic mode after a hard reset? Hold the "menu" and center button for ~10 seconds and that should reboot the device.
If that doesn't do it, maybe let the battery die by keeping it in debug mode off of a charger, and see if recharging it gets it to boot up normally.

I tried this. It reset, then kicked me back into diagnostics. I tried with battery power, i tried with just wall power with no battery connected, i tries with firewire, nothing. just back to diagnostics.
@catdge You might have to restore the iPod, which will re-install the operating system and hopefully address whatever issue is causing it to boot into diagnostics. There's a decent iFixit guide on this process here: 如何进入DFU模式并还原iPod
I will try that.
Just note that this will delete all data on the device, definitely the brute force option. If this doesn't do it, it's probably time to re-open the device and check for damage, missing grounds, etc... Something simple like a stuck button or disconnected cable shouldn't cause it to boot into diagnostics.
