I press the start button to light up my screen but it refuses to light

Does the phone turn on e.g. if you call it from another phone does it ring?

If it turns on then try shining a flashlight at an angle close to the phone's screen and check if you can see any images at all. They will be very faint if they are there so trying this in a darkened room amy help.

If you can see images then there's a backlight problem with the display. This could be due to a faulty display flex cable connection, a faulty display or a problem on the systemboard

Either way the phone would have to be opened and further tested to find out what's wrong

If it doesn't turn on, does it indicate that it is charging when the charger is connected?

If not has it been dropped or gotten wet at all?
