Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14ARE05 Not Turning On

The laptop has been left overnight on the charger. The next day, it did not turn on. Whenever I press the power button, I hear a buzzing sound near the trackpad. Also, the charging light does light up when plugged in, but the laptop makes no fan noises, nothing showing on the screen, and the caps lock light doesn't light up when I press it. Is there a solution to this?

Hi @tanveerzubair

Use a DMM (digital multimeter) and check that there's 20V DC on the output cable plug connector of the charger.

If there is, flex the charger cable directly behind the output cable plug connector and see if the voltage remains steady or comes and goes.

This is just to eliminate a problem with the charger cable as sometimes the wires can fracture inside the cable

If the charger is OK then you need to open the laptop and check if the DC-In jack (examples only) is OK and connected securely to the motherboard etc.

Here's the hardware maintenance manual that will help with this.

If power is getting to the board OK through the DC-In jack you will need to find the schematics for the motherboard to find out what's wrong

I have two different chargers. One of them is a USB-C, and one of them fits in the DC-In jack. They both work fine on my other laptops, but not the IdeaPad Flex 5, so not a charger or a charging port issue. I took the laptop's bottom cover off and attempted to disconnect the battery and plug it back in. My first question is, why is the battery connector not coming out? I tried to fit a spudger on the gap of the black battery connector to remove it, and it was not coming out. I used more force, the spudger slipped, and I cut my finger. How can I remove the battery connector?

@tanveerzubair

The connector is soldered to the motherboard not just plugged in

The battery removal procedure is shown in the manual I linked in my answer above.

I think that you have a motherboard problem, so it may be wise to invest in the schematics for the board.

You will need a DMM and know how to read schematic diagrams to work out what's wrong
