bAT will not clear even after putting brand new batteries in the unit.

I was shooting a wedding and the batteries died and got bAT in the screen. New batteries will let it power on but it will not flash and bAT soon come back on teh screen. I have reset it several time. Powered off and on. removed and installed multiple sets of batteries.
