Why can’t I down load High Sierra with OWC SSD drive?

Facts: My computer use to run High Serria

My original Apple SSD drive is damaged (already tested by a live technician )
When I purchased a non original SSD drive (by OWC) and put it in the computer the computer could not read / find my new SSD drive.
When I connected the OWC SSD drive externally my Mac could read the drive
When I tried to download High Sierra it could not .
I cannot remember the exact reason but I think it could not download High Sierra because the error message was something about a missing firmware partition
I’m currently on Yosemite and I’m not able to download software I NEED that I use to have when my Mac was running on High Sierra.
Currently my computer is working okey but I noticed that my Mac is rejecting many secure websites and it the websites will not open and say NOT SECURE even though I have been on these websites and they are secure.

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS

You’re hitting a known problem with NVMe drives! The older Mac OSs don’t have the support for these drives. You need to be running High Sierra or newer macOS to first get the systems firmware updated and the OS also offers support for the NVMe drive. The reason your external case works is the needed support is within the external cases logic.

So what you need to do is get a 32GB thumb drive and using the internet recovery format it with GUID and with a journaled file system. Then install the recovery OS which I believe is Yosemite in this case. Then reboot your system so it’s running on the thumb drive. Now go here to get a newer macOS release How to download macOS onto your thumb drive.

I would recommend going with Mojave as it’s better than High Sierra. The last release your system will support is Monterey, you could also go with that.

Now you can launch the installer to then install the correct macOS version that has the needed firmware and OS support for NVMe drives which is what your OWC drive is.
