Doesn't stay at temperature long enough.

At first I noticed while steaming milk, the temperature ready light would turn off before I was done. To get around it I just turned off the steam, waited for it to get up to temperature again, and then resume.

This issue got worse over time.

Now when I brew shots the ready light turns off before the shots are even finished. I had stopped using this unit for years as a result.

Working on a different issue today I either broke and lost or suddenly discovered that the L-spring is missing from the portafilter.

Before I order a replacement spring I was hoping to have a plan for the temperature issue.

Reviewed sidebar questions? There may be deposits clogging/blocking water flow in the heating system requiring periodic demineralizing to dissolve them.

@notbroken I did descale, and I'm waiting for the replacement spring to re-test.

I did see someone respond to a similar question saying that the ready light turning off is normal when drawing shots. I just don't remember that happening before.

@vauweh this should be right up your alley of expertise. @stanl do you have a model number or any other identifier for this machine?

It's actually an Estro Vapore from back when Starbucks first started selling Saeco machines, but before they started rebranding them as Baristas.

What year was the unit built? Issue sounds like electrolytic capacitors in / near the temperature sensor.

Hmmm. Difficult to say... I would look for the thermoswitches located on top of the boiler. There is a guide for a quite similar Saeco. Hope it works!
