Cameras and FaceID not working after housing replacement?

Recently replaced my iPhone XR’s cracked back housing with a used original ‘pulled’ unit, and rear camera with one taken from another iPhone XR (both genuine) - as previous camera became blurry due to dirt from a lack of the camera lens.

However, after powering on the iPhone displayed a warning saying that FaceID was unavailable, and the camera app was completely black (no image) - confirmed flash not working either. So I cleaned all connections and put back in the original camera. Same result (I know both these cameras worked prior to repair).

There are no tears on the FaceID-related components cables, no visual damage to the connectors. I have also cleaned cameras for dust and made sure the dot projector/front selfie camera is all positioned well - however for whatever reason the camera and FaceID isn’t working.

For your information, ambient light sensor and earpiece speaker have been tested and confirmed to work.

Any clues on what the issue might be?

Thanks in advance! (:

Is the front facing camera working? Or is it just indicating Face ID disabled? Face ID does require the front facing camera to work in order to work.

I would try powering up without the rear camera connected and see if you can at least get Face ID that way. A faulty rear camera can cause all kinds of issues.

No flash is normal for a non functional rear camera since the flash enable signal comes from the camera.

If no camera even then, I would start to question if it's possible that there is a board level issues.

I believe that the issue here is that the new parts are not paired to that logic board. This is a thing that happens with iphones that prevents you from repairing things on your own. The phone intentionally disables FaceID when you do this to try to deter people from repairing. Apple and the Apple Certified repair shops have the pairing software. To confirm this is not a hardware issue, you did the repair correctly, it is just and IOS thing. You could go to a repair shop or go to Apple to get this fixed, or you could just not use FaceID. Glad that you repaired something!
