everything turns off when I load a game

Whenever I load a video game like Fortnite, Minecraft, CS:GO (the game doesn't matter), all the monitors connected to the computer shut off, the keyboard lights turn off and all the connected devices turn off, but the PC stays on.

Hi,

The following are just checks to hopefully isolate where the problem is by eliminating potential areas that can cause the problem and also to check if the problem is being registered by the system.

  • Run a sfc /scannow command to ensure that the OS system files are all OK. (Yes, there is a space between the sfc and the / symbol. This is old world computing. The mouse doesn't work in the command window so if you make a typing error, use the backspace key to delete back to where the error is and start typing again)
  • Check in Device Manager that the latest display adapter drivers are installed. To get to Device Manager, press the Win key + x key (both together) and click on the link. When in Device Manager, scroll down to Display Adapters and right click on the AMD adapter entry > Properties > Driver and check what version is installed.
  • Run the Windows memory diagnostics tool and check that the ram is all OK
  • Check in Event Viewer for any Critical, Error or Warning events that may be logged at the same time as the problem occurred. If there are any events listed at the same time, search online using the Event ID and Source information to see what the cause of the event may be. To get to Event Viewer, press the Win key + x key (both together) and click on the link.
  • If you can remember the date that the problem started happening, check if there were any Windows feature or quality updates on that day or perhaps the day after. Go to Settings > Update and Security > Windows Updates > View update history. If there was one you could try uninstalling the update and check if that resolves the problem. Click on Uninstall updates and find the update and then uninstall it. Write the update number down so that you can reinstall it later etc

Hopefully a start.

Will try when I get a chance, I probably should have mentioned that Fortnite sometimes recommends installing new graphics drivers, but that doesn't help

@Finnooo Gaming

If you have the latest drivers installed then check that the latest DirectX version is also installed. It should be DirectX 12. If so then it shouldn't be the graphics adapter that is the problem.

You can also check the amount of vram you have allocated, but I haven't checked the user manual for your motherboard to see if it can be increased or not. If it worked before it should be OK unless the games themselves were updated perhaps.
