My computer randomly crashes sometimes when playing games

I have a custom gaming computer with these parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kVLXBj

This is a brand new computer I just built with new parts (1 month old), and when I play certain games my computer crashes, its a really fast crash, it just turns off for 1 second and takes me to the bios loading screen and back to windows where it starts up fresh. So far this has only happened whenever I start up Call of Duty Warzone/Modern Warfare, and most recently when I play rainbow six siege (which ive never seen this problem occur before) after playing the game for maybe 5 minutes. What could the problem be?

Hi @tushanp,

Check in Event Viewer for any Critical, Error or Warning events that may be logged at the same time as the PC restarts. Perhaps if there are any they may give a clue as to what has occurred

Also have you got the latest video drivers installed?

Have any Windows updates been installed between the time you got the PC and when it started to have this problem?

@jayeff im pretty sure i have the latest video drivers installed, Geforce experience says I have the latest drivers installed, would updating my bios have anything to do with this? and also where would you like me to go in the Event Viewer because I dont see anything important on there telling me about a critical error.

@jayeff Would flashing my BIOS make a difference?

@tushanp

I leave flashing the BIOS as a last resort because unless the BIOS update info from the manufacturer specifies that it fixes certain known problems as opposed to just "improvements" it can create problems if something wrong happens during the flashing of the BIOS.

As you may have gathered I'm not too keen on doing it first up. If all else fails and there is an update available, then try it and see.

@jayeff I just did some research on flashing bios, didnt know it could be dangerous so youre right, i most likely wont be doing that

I had the same issue, but mine was a much older custom built unit. I swapped the power supply out and it fixed the problem. If you want to fix yours, the issue is usually electrolytic capacitors inside (very cheap to buy). I'm surprised this happened to such a new unit. Is the PSU still under warranty? Maybe they used an older board inside a new case? It's worth opening up if no warranty and giving it a visual inspection.
