Why is my mac not able to find the SSD?

SSD is not getting detected on macbook pro 1707. Checked for power supply in all NANDs.

The diskutil is also not showing the hardware nand attached to the system

The NAND power distributor is getting over heated but the power supply is proper. I have checked all the NANDs in the attached image for power supply.

Ouch! Sadly your systems logic board has a problem! It could be the flash chips them selfs failed a common issue with smaller drive setups which have too much stuff! You really need to leave 1/3 of the drive free! The larger drives need about 1/4. Otherwise the drive is over taxed.

It’s also possible you have corrosion damage due to a liquid spill.

Best to find someone local who have the needed Mac & micro soldering skills

@danj, thanks for the reply. I believe I have fair amount of soldering skills for the job. I have checked for liquid corrosion etc. and they don’t seem to be the cause. I have also checked the voltage supply on all the 4 drives and that seems to be proper.

Need some direction on how to diagnose the root cause.

@Abhishek Rastogi - How many times can you bend a coat hanger before it snaps?

Flash chips are no different! You can only write to the given cell so many times. To extend the life of the Flash wear leveling is done and there are also spare cells held in reserve to back fill.

Now how full the drive is impacts the drives ability to wear level the smaller the drive the less it can be written to.

That’s the root issue if you don’t find any corrosion or other failure.

So… you may need a new logic board as replacing the Flash chips doesn’t make economic sense and given the density of the logic board you’ll likely damage it in the process of replacing the chips.
