probably, a loose cable OR, I had a problem similar to this, my satellite cable goes over the roof, and the weather had weathered it and it wouldn't work. get a new cable or my grandparents had a similar cable to this as well, they just had a bad signal though, they had to get their satellite replaced as some water got into it. hope this helps :)

Hi,
What is the model number of the TV?
Have you checked that the TV input is selected to the correct input that the cable box is connected to?
Have you tried a different known working compatible cable between the box and the TV to see if that worked?
