trackpad doesn't work properly after installing new top and keyboard

Have a MBA 13" 2014. Keyboard was bad, so bought a new top with the keyboard, exchanged everything into the new case and used the same trackpad and cable from the operating unit (same motherboard, etc. ) now the trackpad doesn't work correctly (no click select, scroll ok. Cable is connected correctly, it is the same trackpad and cable and motherboard... Issue? tried reseating both ends of the cable, no difference. Any ideas? Di all the usual stuff SMC, NVRAM, etc.

Hi

Hopefully this issue isn’t a board level issue or a cable/track pad issue

When things like this randomly stop working properly I find cleaning the connectors(both board and cable) with some isopropyl alcohol

I would also pay close attention to any “dull”looking pins and if any are sound throughly clean them

Thanks, Yes, I did that and got a different operational result, so ordered a new cable. Looked under scope and the one (that was part of the system was looking OK0 The user then told me her trackpad had not been operating properly for sometime. Hmm. So have a replacement on order. Always ask all the questions first to see if there is something else going on... HA. The new top & keyboard (original repair) operate fine., Thank you.
