How can you visibly tell the difference between MacBook Air Retina scr

eens. (*!&*^#% 70 character limit) Anyways...

Let's say you took apart several MacBooks and your homies was distracting you (true story!) and thanks to their drunken ramblings you got all the parts mixed up now you have to reassemble them correctly. If you have these 4 MacBook Air screens on the table:

A1932, (2018)
A1932 (2019 true tone)
A2179
A2337

How can you tell which one is which?

Well. That’s a great question.

To be honest, this might be a bit tricky. The first thing I would check is if you can locate a different board number on the TCON board. I was hoping I had photos of my spare M1 TCON board on my phone to at least give you info for that, but I apparently do not. Those board numbers also may be identical, or may be the same across some models. But it’s the first thing that came to mind.

UPDATE: Now that I'm home, I dug out the board for the M1 machine. I am finding this may not be the best solution since the board number is actually underneath the sticker for one of the flex cables. However. I can confirm that the board number for the M1 (A2337) is 820-01891-02. Also don't worry, this board was already toast. It came out of a friend's machine whose (ex)boyfriend went "Bender Bending Rodriguez" on it and tore the whole display off the rest of the chassis.

I don't think I have the juice to rip my 2019 A1932 apart tonight for science, but maybe tomorrow. I actually use that so I would be a bit sad if it came to harm.
