How do you remove the plastic top for repair?

I would like to attempt repair of a bulb that died after one year, and another that just flickers - but can't figure out how to remove the top plastic part to get to the mainboard without damaging it.

I was finally able to get through by slicing a utility knife around the seam with multiple passes, could probably be done more safely with a rotary tool. Careful not to go too deep there are a few things on the board that stick up past the seam.
