1) When you push the power button does it light up? If it lights up, does it blink? If it blinks, what colors & what pattern of blinking (i.e. two long blinks, one short blink, one long, then repeat). Dell has diagnostic codes info for your laptop at:

2) Will it power on with the battery removed from the laptop? If yes, the battery may be bad.
