Washer won't run unless dryer is running, but even then it won't agitate. What's happening?

What is the model number of the combo unit?
Have you checked that the power supply is OK? Usually these units require 2 x 120V AC feeds i.e. 240V AC - 2 fuses or breakers in the power box.
