removed dvd drive, now fan goes on indefinitely

HI

i had to remove a faulty dvd optical drive due to crazy noise, iam planning to order a replacement but what is happening now is tat the fan is going at full speed, right from the start up, is this normal?

hi i have a iMac 24 inch (white) 2.33Mghz core 2 duo, ((((i dont see no ECM number on the label so i cant say if i am giving you correct info)))

you guys are right, i did forget to reconnect a thermal sensor, its in my hand :( with the old drive.

Sounds like you forgot to reconnect a thermal sensor, there are quite a few of these throughout the computer, and forgetting the reconnect them will result in the computer thinking that it is overheating, and reving the fans up to full speed. Thermal sensors ususually use 2-Pin connectors, and can be easy to forget to reconenct.

Recheck all your connections

esp. the ones to fan and heat sink. You could have one that "looks connected" but isn't, or you may have damaged a connector.
