How do I remove the fingerprint scanner
I spilled coffee on the keyboard and I have been able to successfully remove and clean all the keys except the fingerprint scanner/ power switch. Is there any way I can open it and clean it ?

The power switch and TouchID sensor is very delicate! IF you damage it thats the end of not only the button but the logic board which it is married too.
The assembly is held from the inside by a set of screws. Its a fair amount of work to even get to so unless you have some experience taking your system apart I would leave it be or bring your system to an authorized Apple repair shop as they have deeper skills.
