New home button gasket order

Currently on week 3 of my screen replacement. Not going well.

I ripped the home button cable, ordered a replacement from iFixit. I threw the old one out not realizing I was suppose to salvage the gasket, spacer, etc. No mention of it on iFixit so I found a gasket kit elsewhere, but I can’t seem to find instructions, or figure out, which parts are suppose to adhere to which.

Do I adhere the spacer to the screen, drop in the button, and adhere the gasket to the button and screen, all over the spacer?

I had followed the iFixit instructions literally, and tried to glue my new button to the screen. Didn’t make sense to me, and clearly did not work.

Thank you.

Tricky gaskets look at the old home button if you still have it to use as a reference. The plastic O goes on the last which you will lay flush to the glass in the hole.

Yeah, the problem is I threw out the old button after I ordered the new one, but before it arrived, thinking I was set. The problem is the instructions say something like, glue the button on”, didn’t realize it meant a collection of parts hosting a button.

So the the spacer and it’s adhesive faces the glass and doesn’t move, the button goes in the hole, and the gasket adheres to that group of parts?
