Best way to plug in new screen?

When replacing an iPod Touch 4G screen, what's the best way to plug in the digitizer connection back into the logic board? I'm working with a spudger and it seems as if the only way to plug it back in is perseverance. Long, agonizing perseverance. Thanks!

Update (solution found)

I've repaired a bunch of 4th generation iPod Touch's and I just found an easier way to plug in the digitizer. The key is to take the copper grounding tape OFF the new digitizer and wrap it around the connection LATER. Amateur mistake most likely, but this method saved me lots of time and probably a few gray hairs as well.

Your "Update (solution found)" doesn't make sense to me.

Take the copper grounding tape OFF the new digitizer???

There is no copper tape on the new digitizer.

You must take the tape off the old digitizer and then wrap it around the connector once you snap in the new digitizer.

The original question is "what's the best way to plug in the digitizer connection back into the logic board?"

Hey Joe, sorry for the confusion. What I had previously been doing was taking the tape off the old digitizer, then putting it on the new digitizer BEFORE I plugged it into the iPod. That must have added some extra bulk, because it just would not plug into the logic board.

Now I'm plugging in the digitizer to the logic board, THEN I'm putting the grounding tape on it once it's already plugged in. Sorry for the confusion, hopefully this clears that up!

Thank's for clearing it up. The bottom line is this is a hard job to do but like anything else, it gets easier after you do a few....Joe in PA

You have to use tweezers. Take a careful look at the position of each connecter and line it up the best you could. If you notice on the digitizer it is not in the exact center. Do not use too much pressure so as not to do damage but enough to snap it in.

Sooner or later you get it in the sweet spot and it snaps in home.

Hope you got it in by now and didn't smash it up against a brick wall.

It was my customer's iPod, so I definitely didn't smash it up against the wall. I felt like it though! I'll add an answer of what made it easier for me. Thanks for your answer.

It's so hard to do because you guys have been doing it the hard way, the display is meant to be installed before putting the logic board into the case. Unsolder the battery and the button cable, remove the logic board from the case and you can install whichever way you like.

So tom you take logicboard out when doing a screen replacement?

I've only done full refurbs(LCD+case+battery), it's actually easier that way.

I had begun removing the cable for the rear facing camera connection. with my left hand placing my index finger on the volume flex cable with just a little pressure not to break it and using my thumb to pull up on the logic board I found I got enough clearance to use my finders on my right hand to plug in the digitizer cable, afterwards replacing the rear camera connection. this process had saved me tons of grief.
