Who is responsible for monitoring this forum?

This website has volunteer moderators all over the world, who mainly make sure that offensive or inappropriate questions, comments and answers are removed from the site. They do this when they can spare the time as they also have jobs, families etc like everyone else

Open questions are left there so that anybody who feels they have a relevant answer can post an answer that may help someone in the future.

A lot of unanswered questions may have already had an answer and if the person used the ifixit search function (at the top of the webpage) they may have found the answer they sought rather than posting a new question about the same problem.

There is also the other side of the coin where people ask questions which are answered and then don’t have the courtesy to respond when an answer has been provided, leaving the person who answered none the wiser if it was helpful or not to the person who asked the question or to anyone else who reads it.

Points help in this regard as people can see if an answer has a score >0 or it is highlighted as the Chosen Solution that it has worked for someone at least. The person who answered a question cannot upvote their own answer so as to enhance their ”reputation” as seen by their rep points tally next to their user ID
