will I lose true tone after swapping screens?

Hi there,
is the macbook pro screen “married” to the logic board like on newer iphones?
i’m planning on replacing my screen, but i dont want to lose things like auto brightness and true tone.

Unfortunately, you will indeed lose True Tone by replacing the MacBook’s Display. Hope this helps!

@augthespoon - Well its not that simple!

If you get a new virgin display then you will loose Brightness, FaceTime camera & True Tone services. The issue is the display needs to be calibrated as they requires the system to be complete. Frankly I really don’t see why Apple makes this hard if not to discourage repair.

If on the other hand get a recycled display (which is what I use for my customers) then you don’t loose anything! As the calibration was performed and the settings are stored within the displays T-CON logic.

Hi i am having issues with my Macbook m1 pro which doesnt have the true tone option at all. I got it checked At a Authorised reseller, they said i have a non genuine screen but my facetime autobrightness works as normal except the true tone itself

Can't compare your MacBook M1 Air or Pro to the older 2018 13" MacBook Pro. A very different beast!

Your systems architecture is different (Apple SoC vs Intel). How about creating your own question with all of the details on what had proceeded.
