Replacement Front Camera not working

So I’m in a weird situation. My headset speaker stopped working (there was a slight tear in the cable from a recent screen repair job), but the camera still worked fine. Since there’s no way to really just replace one part of the assembly, I just replaced the entire Front Camera/ProximitySensor/Speaker assembly with a brand new one. Now my speaker works fine, but the proximity sensor and front camera don’t work at all. I though that maybe I had shorted it, but all the pins are still fine. Also, I can still plug in the old camera assembly and the camera works fine.

My next thought was that the replacement was defective. So I got a replacement, but still have the same results. Is there an extra step you need to do to replace the assembly that you didn’t have to do for 6/7/8?

This is the assembly I bought… I know it is for 8 but I believe it should work for the SE… I can’t find any that say just SE 2020.

i can't speak for that amazon supplier. however, the front cam flex cables sold by mobile sentrix and injured gadgets both list as compatible with both models. but here's the caveat. if vendor lists compatible with both, don't presume every vendor's product is like that too.
case-in-point. mobile sentrix sells two grades of lightning port charger flex assembly. their after-market version is specific for the 8 or the SE2020. whereas their premium version is listed as compatible with both. if a product doesn't work as advertised/listed, you have recourse to deal with the vendor. if the listing doesn't explicitly say that it works with a certain model, and it doesn't, you can't claim there was a problem because it wasn't used correctly.
