My Dell Inspiron 15-7559 Laptop Not turning on

So Long story short I had to fix my wireless card on my laptop which I have not turned it on for like 2-3 months.

when I put everything together I realised that the keypad was not working at all but I still could use the laptop. Next day I opened my laptop and my daughter was watching something on it then she shut its lid after watching it while the apps were still running. Then I fixed the mousepad but when I put everything together again I realised the laptop is dead (not turning on). The power light comes on and when I press the power button the power light blinks so it registers.

Has anyone experienced the exact problem? Would it be the motherboard battery coz it got lose the first time I played with it.

Just a quick update.

I have fixed the restarting error by replacing the cmos battery.it works very well now but now I have encountered another problem. The touch pad does not work now. I have tried everything but I am unable to get it work. I’m told to update bios but since my battery doesn’t hold charge I am unable to to that.

is there any chance I can fix that issue?

Does the laptop show that it is charging?

If so, try a full power refresh and check if that resolves the problem.

Disconnect the charger if connected and then open the laptop and disconnect the main battery from the motherboard. You only have to disconnect it, not remove it.

Here’s the owner manual for the laptop. Go to p.16 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure for how to do this.

Next disconnect the coin cell RTC (Real Time Clock) battery from the motherboard. (see p.48 of the manual)

Press and hold the laptop’s Power On/Off button for a full 30 seconds and then release it.

Reverse the above steps to re-assemble the laptop.

Connect the charger to the laptop and try turning it on and check.

Thanks for your response and posting the manual here!

The laptop’s battery is not the best so it doesn’t hold charge. But when I plug the ac cable in it’s light goes on meaning charging and when I press the power button the light blinks.

I have tried the power refresh but no luck. I’ll have a go with your other suggestion.

Does the touchpad appear anywhere in Device Manager?

So under IC2 HID device it has the description of

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

A request for the HID descriptor failed.

Not sure how to fix it. Also I realized my adjustable keyboard lights do not work.

Try uninstalling the device in Device Manager (right click on the device and click on uninstall) and then restart the laptop and let Windows "find" it again and reinstall it just in case it is a corrupted install.

Also try updating the drivers from the same point in Device Manager, if still no good. You need to be online for it to try and update.

If no good try unplugging and cleaning the touchpad cable end with Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+.

See p.39-40 of the owner manual (linked above in answer) for how to disconnect the cable.

Keyboard backlight cable is on p.37 so maybe try cleaning that as well.
