My phone keeps overheating and the battery is so so should I replace it? Or is this some other issue i don't know about?

YES! If your phone is overheating lots, it is often the fact the lithium ion battery is failing and may be internally shorting.
My phone was giving warning of overheating a few months before it was noticed bulging the back case off the phone and needed an immediate battery replaced.
