Battery doesn't charge after replacement

I replaced successfully the battery in my 3Gs, but when i plugged it for charging it didn't charged at all. It made the typical sound and the battery icon changed to indicate it's charging, but the percentage didn't raise and started to go down until the moment when it is totally empty.

What can I do?

Try swapping back to the original battery to see if it will charge on your iPhone 3GS. If it does, then you received a defective battery and should seek a replacement.

If it does not charge, then you may have a bad dock connector or a bad AC Adapter.

Did you order the battery from us? If so, then send me an email, Matt(at)iFixit(dot)com, with your order number and I can assist you in getting a replacement.

Matt, as you guessed, I received a defective battery, because the original battery did not have any problem in charging, so now I am trying to replace the defective battery. Thanks.

By typical sound you just mean the little beep right? You ordered an iPhone 3GS battery and NOT a 3G battery right? If so, go in and re-check all your connections, clean them, and re-assemble the phone in the most careful, most meticulous manner you can. If that still doesn't solve your problem, it's possible that you have a blown charging fuse, but let's see if a good old fashioned clean and re-assemble works! Let us know what happens!
