Ps4 dualshock won't work unless plugged in

My ps4 was overheating so I took it apart to clean it out and put it back together. Everything is connected correctly and was working fine before but now all of my controllers only work when plugged in. They will light up correctly and everything when disconnected but will stop all functions after having a delayed input. I can try turning in call of duty and it'll take a second to turn then the controller won't be responsive anymore. I'm not sure what causes this or will it be a new controller?
